For crime fiction research, I love the email loop CRIME SCENE WRITER. I get it on email digest. Wally Lind, retired CSI started it, but many other members contribute their expertise - weapons experts, firemen, EMTs, etc. If you query CRIME SCENE WRITER and YahooGroups, you should find it. Email a request to join. It's open to anyone, but it's for research discussions, not author self promotion.
